Raindance Cosmetics Review

Raindance Cosmetics had been kind enough to send me a few liquid foundations to try. After putting them to the test, I have to admit they're one of the BEST all natural foundations that I have ever tried and they are true to their ingredients!

The Lauren Brooke Crème Foundation is amazing and true to its natural ingredients. This foundation has a matte finish, looks natural on the skin, and medium coverage that can be built up to full. Even though the formula is all natural ingredients the pigmentation is incredible and it smells like organic green tea. Additionally, it has mind-blowing lasting-power and has SPF 28. These are just a few reasons why The Lauren Brooke Crème Foundation is so impressive.

The 100% Pure Healthy Skin Foundation is astounding, and is also true to its natural ingredients-packed with super fruits. The formula is light-weight, rich, creamy and has a satin finish. This foundation has crazy lasting power and blends seamlessly. The foundation formula is also pack with antioxidants and has SPF 20. The 100% Pure Healthy Skin Foundation was my favorite of the two only because I prefer satin finishes on my face, but in all they are both stunning foundations.

Chemicals In Cosmetics | Part 1 | Powders

It concerns me that women don’t realise what they are putting on their face. Did you know the 99.9% of the ingredients claiming to be “safe to use and non-toxic” actually are in fact harmful to use. If the make-up item is not 100% natural/organic then it will contain 2 or more harmful ingredients. People are told over and over about these harmful ingredients but don’t seem to care. Here is a reality check.

Loose and pressed powders such as blushes, powder foundations, bronzes, highlighters, and any other powder form make-up are the worst for you. These claim to be the worst because they end up inhaled into the lungs and sinuses when applied. Here is a list of the harmful ingredients in powdered cosmetics.

Ingredients:
TALC, MICA, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, POLYETHYLENE, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, DIMETHICONE, POLYBUTENE, ISOSTEARYL NEOPENTANOATE, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE, BHT, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, BENZYL SALICYLATE, CITRONELLOL, HEXYL CINNAMAL, HYDROXYISOHEXYL 3-CYCLOHEXENE CARBOXALDEHYDE, LINALOOL, BUTYLPARABEN, [MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR/+/-: TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI 77492,CI 77499), ULTRAMARINES (CI 77007)].

Mica:
Mica is harmless as a solid, its powder or dust can cause both short and long term health problems. Inhaling mica can cause wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath as it irritates the mucous membrane lining the lungs. Repeated high exposure to mica can cause fibrosis in the lungs, where the constant irritation from inhaling mica dust causes scarring of the lung tissue. This results in the chronic coughing and shortness of breath typical of pneumoconiosis, a disease often seen in people who work in mines where they are exposed to coal dust. The carcinogenic effects of mica are unclear, but considering other known health effects it is probably best to avoid exposure as much as possible.

Talc:
Talc is sold globally for use in personal hygiene and cosmetics. Its use promotes certain types of diseases, mainly cancers of the ovaries and lungs. The studies reference, by subject: pulmonary issues, lung cancer, and ovarian cancer. One of these, published in 1993, was a US National Toxicology Program report, which found that cosmetic grade talc containing no asbestos-like fibres was correlated with tumour formation in rats (animal testing), forced to inhale talc for 6 hours a day, five days a week over at least 113 weeks. A 1971 paper found particles of talc embedded in 75% of the ovarian tumors studied.
Magnesium Stearate:
Magnesium Stearate research has shown that stearic acid suppresses T cells—your natural killer cells—which are a key component of your immune system. According to that study, stearic acid causes the collapse of cell membrane integrity—an effect that was found to be time and dose dependent—which, ultimately, can destroy cell function.

Polyethylene:
The CIR Expert Panel noted that some studies showed tumour formation when solid pieces of Polyethylene were surgically implanted into the body. Polyethylene is not good to breathe into the lungs or sinuses!

Phenyl Trimethicone:
Phenyl is hazardous in case of ingestion and is slightly hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant), of eye contact (irritant). When I researched if it was bad to inhale all I could find was "toxic if inhaled" from its safety data sheet.

Dimethicone:
Dimethicone is classified as expected to be toxic or harmful, and other moderate concerns are Organ system toxicity, and Ecotoxicology.

Polybutene:
It is concluded that inhalation of the polybutene and one of the mineral cable oils show toxic effects in lung.

Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate:
Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate has been known to produce excess reactive oxygen species that can interfere with cellular signalling, cause mutations, and lead to cell death. May also be implicated in cardiovascular disease, and as always, ingredients applied to skin may cause allergic reactions.

Tocopheryl Acetate:
Tocopheryl Acetate is a synthetic form of vitamin E, and there is strong evidence of it being a skin toxicant. There have also been small traces of tumour formation.

Methylparaben:
Methylparaben is a skin and eye irritant, and has specially been targeted for organ toxicity. Also causes respiratory irritation, may be harmful if inhaled, and causes respiratory tract irritation.

Propylparaben:

Propylparaben is linked to cancer/ breast cancer. The Human Toxome Project, a study being conducted by the Environmental Working Group, found that 26 out of the 28 people tested were found to have Propylparaben in their urine, showing its widespread usage in products, and its ability to travel through the body as well as stay in the system.

Perfume/Fragrance:
There are over 500 potential chemicals that can be used under the name “fragrance” found on the label of many products, not just perfumes and colognes, but also most cosmetic products. Some of the most common chemicals in perfume are ethanol, acetaldehyde, benzaldehyde, benzyl acetate, a-pinene, acetone, benzyl alcohol, ethyl acetate, linalool, a-terpinene, methylene chloride, styrene oxide, dimenthyl sulphate, a-terpineol, camphor, and limonene. Almost all of these chemicals cause irritability, mental vagueness, muscle pain, asthma, bloating, joint aches, sinus pain, fatigue, sore throat, eye irritation, gastrointestinal problems, laryngitis, headaches, dizziness, swollen lymph nodes, spikes in blood pressure, coughing, and burning or itching skin irritations.

BHT:
BHT is used in a wide range of cosmetic formulations. BHT penetrates the skin, but the relatively low amount absorbed remains primarily in the skin. BHT at lower doses produced increased liver weight, and decreased activity of several hepatic enzymes. In addition to liver and kidney effects, BHT applied to the skin was associated with toxic effects in lung tissue.

Butylphenyl Methylpropional:
Butylphenyl Methylpropional can cause many problems in humans such as Endocrine disruption, organ system toxicity, and many more serious issues. Safety Hazards of this chemical may cause irritation or allergic reactions and the use of this chemical as a fragrance can be very harmful due to its potential dermal response. This chemical is classified with high toxicity concerns for humans in organ systems.

Benzyl Salicylate:
The toxicological properties of this material have not been fully investigated. This chemical will cause eye irritation, skin irritation, and respiratory tract irritation. Also specifically targets organ toxicity.

Citronellol:
Citronellol is very harmful if inhaled, and material is extremely destructive to the tissue of the mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract. Citronellol is also an eye and skin irritant.

Hexyl Cinnamal:
Hexyl Cinnamal is harmful if swallowed, and causes skin sensitization. May cause eye and skin irritation. Inhalation may cause irritation of the respiratory tract and mucous membranes.

Hexyl Cinnamaldehyde:
Hexyl Cinnamaldehyde is a class B allergen according to DIMDI classification. It is also an irritant in concentrations higher than recommended.

Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde:
Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde is an eye, skin and lung irritant, and is also an allergenic.

Linalool:
Findings show that linalool inhalation represses stress-induced effects on the profiles of both blood cells and gene expression. What leaves me wondering that the hell else does this chemical actually do to humans when inhaled and it also causes eczema

Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, and Ultramarines:
Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, and Ultramarines cause respiratory tract cancer exposed by inhalation.

The harmful ingredients listed above were all in one pressed powdered product. The product is one of the most popular drug-store pressed powders, and 95% of the ingredients were toxic. Not to mention all the ingredients listed above are toxic to the environment and are all tested on animals. If a product says not tested on animals it’s because the ingredients already have been. Researching all these products was a big eye-opener for me and I hope it helps you out.

New Years/New Years Eve

New Year’s Eve is the last day of the year and is traditionally a night of celebration. It’s the one night out of the whole year where getting drunk and making a fool of yourself is forgivable. Also is about letting go of all that has troubled you and allowing new endless possibilities. There are many events/parties that place and it is exciting to get ready for. Here are some useful ideas for New Year’s Eve.

Firstly, don’t be too cool for school, and go see the fireworks. Fireworks are aerial works of artistry. They are stunningly beautiful. They are a brief shimmer of fragrant blooms against a starry sky. Their huge boom gets the adrenalin flowing, which can be a good start to your night of festivities. Also your City spends a lot of money on fireworks for New Year’s because they bring joy to children and adults. Attending the fireworks showing your appreciation-start your night out with a boom.

Secondly, get your nails done or DIY manicure. Some say manicured nails give women that extra boost of confidence when preparing for an event. Even though it’s such a small and negligible object, it can change the way women think and feel. It is also a good way to feel relaxed and pampered before a night out. In addition to the topic, it also brings on extra complements, you know on the inside that girl beside you is totally checking out those nails with awe.
Thirdly, try a festive drink. Try a festive and yummy looking drink. Whether you’re pre-drinking before the bar, going for drinks at a friend’s house, hosting a get-together, having a few drinks at home with a loved one, drinking by yourself, and even if its non-alcoholic. Festive looking drinks add a little something special to the night. Put it in a fancy cup, flavour it, put a sugar rim on it, ice it up, blend it, colour it, put some lime on it, put some candy in it or on it, get some of those little drink umbrellas, any of these things would suffice. Festive looking drinks are a symbol of a good time and that’s why you should drink a festive drink on New Year’s.

Fourthly, pick out your outfit and go all out. There is nothing wrong with women wanting to dress up to go out. It's not necessarily to impress guys so much as to just feel and look good for themselves. Some girls also just want to be fashionable. A track suit and t-shirt is clearly not an option for going out. Women dress up to keep up with the other dressed up people around. Looking good is feeling good, and feeling good allows you to have a good time.

Fifthly, accessorize and also go all out. There's no end to the accessory choices out there, and it can be tricky to narrow down your options. Begin by choosing a few pieces that match your current style, and experimenting with bolder pieces. Choose a few accessories that accent your outfit or highlight the feature you want to play up. Remember to just have fun with it, but make sure everything goes together.

Sixthly, don’t forget to watch the ball drop. I always like to have the TV on for the ball dropping. Even if there is a party going on because it has timer and you DO NOT want to miss the countdown.  Watching the ball drop has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. Even if there was a party going on in the background they would take the last minute and count down with the TV.

Lastly, Make sure you pre-call your cabs. New Year’s is one of the busiest nights for cab companies and you’re going to want to make sure you have one before going out. Other ideas for safe ways home are to find a car pool, a DD, or have you and all your friends pitch in for a limo, roll up and leave the party like boss-ass bitches. Stay safe and don’t drink and drive. These some ideas for New Year’s Eve and I hope you liked this blog post.

Fall 2014

Fall is definitely my favourite season. You feel its crisp breeze knowing that summer is over and fall is in the air. Fall has a particular beauty to its meaning. All the colours of its changing leaves fluttering to the ground and we are reminded that nature's cycle is mirrored in our lives. Autumn is a time for letting go and releasing things that have been a burden. From warm pumpkin spice lattes to jumping into the crunchy fallen leaves, there are so many reasons to enjoy fall. This blog will contain everything you'll love this fall.

Clothing
Feel warm and cosy in this year's fall trends. Dark earth tones are what you want to go with in fall clothing. Stick with gold’s, burgundies, darker reds, darker purples, blacks, browns, navy blues, grays, greens, pale pinks and burnt oranges. Additionally, I cannot wait to get my hands on those cosy knitted sweaters, scarf's, beanies, knee high boots and cute mittens. Although fall clothing may seem dull and boring you would be surprised on how cute and chic the outfits turn out.

2. Comfy Pumpkin Scents
Thanksgiving would be complete without pumpkin pie. When it comes to Thanksgiving we all have special and fond memories, whether of a special guest, the origin of a family tradition, or a particular reason to be thankful. Our fondest memories of Thanksgiving are the ones of childhood. That is why pumpkin scents are so vital in the fall season. Everyone went crazy at Bath and Body Works this year for fall scents. There fall scents are amazing, addicting and smell so good you could eat them. These are a few of my favourite Bath and Body Works fall scents.
  • Pumpkin Sugared Doughnut
  • Sweater Weather
  • Pumpkin Pecan Waffles
  • Pumpkin Apple
  • Leaves
  • Pumpkin Cupcake
  • Pumpkin Carving
  • Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin
  • Caramel Pumpkin Latte

3. Affordable Cosmetics For Fall
Fall make-up usually takes its cue from the elements: earthy brown, metallic gold and dark berries. The colder the weather gets the dryer your skin will get. Using moisturiser before doing your foundation routine is very important.  In the winter you still want that SPF for your face in the daytime. UVA is accountable for most of the ageing process in our skin, as it causes damage to the integral proteins that give skin strength, elasticity and plumpness. Regardless of time of day or season, UVA is present and can penetrate cloud cover. It is as easy to get sunburned in winter as in summer. Snow reflects the sun's rays, so sunburn is possible even if you're cold. When you're outdoors in the winter, wear sunscreen on any exposed areas.

The Olay Complete All Day Moisture Cream with Sunscreen
The Olay Complete All Day Moisture Cream with Sunscreen is an oil free formula and helps protect skin with SPF 15. The formula conditions the skins surface to maintain healthy-looking skin and provides 8 hours of long lasting hydration. The result of this cream is healthy-looking, beautiful skin. The cream is also non-greasy, dermatologically tested, and non-comedogenic which means it won’t clog pores. You should consider using this cream in the fall/winter.
L'Oreal True Match
The L’Oreal True Match is a super-bendable foundation that precisely matches you skin tone and texture. This foundation contains no oils, fragrances, or pore-clogging fillers. The true match foundation will leave you with, beautiful, radiant, flawless skin. It also contains SPF 17, medium to full coverage and is available in 23 shades.
WetNWild Colour Icon in Comfort Zone
Earth tones are the recommended colours for your eyes in the fall. WetNWild’s Colour Icon in Comfort Zone pallet is perfect for fall. All the shadows in this pallet are surprisingly super pigmented, creamy, and bendable. This pallet contains eight dynamic coloured-coordinated shades with high pigmentation and shine for ultra-impact colour.
Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in India Intrigue
A dark berry colour on the lip is the hottest trend for fall make-up. The Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in India Intrigue is perfect for fall not only is it a dark berry colour but it also gives lips moisture. It drenches lips in a glossy wet colour that stays on the lips for hours. The gloss also instantly moisturises without stickiness and contains Vitamin E and Aloe. In the fall and winter you’re going to want a lip colour that moisturises because the fall and winter time dries out the lips.

Essie’s Dressed to Kilt 2014 Fall Collection
Dress your nails for fall with Essie’s Dressed to Kilt 2014 Fall Collection of nail polishes. These polishes are on point for fall. They are fast drying and have a beautiful finish. The fall 2014 palette delivers shades so chic it’s almost criminal and is very high quality. The shades are inspired by espionage and thrill of the chase. These polishes are truly amazing and you would be crazy not to love them.

4. Pumpkin Spice Latte's
There’s nothing better than your first pumpkin spice latte of the season. Tastes like fall in a cup. Although some have discovered that the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte are not very good for you. Here is an alternative. This recipe is very delicious and will make you super-pumped for fall every year. This recipe is also a lot healthier for you except for the sugar. Look up pumpkin spice lattes in urbandictionary.com for a good laugh.
Ingredients:
 Makes 1 serving
  • 1 cup milk, divided
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar, or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin purée
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brewed espresso

Directions:
1.   Whisk 1/2 cup milk, sugar, pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan over low heat. Simmer for 5 minutes. Whisk in remaining 1/2 cup milk.
2.   Pour milk mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove pulp. Return milk mixture to saucepan and simmer, whisking, 2 minutes. Add espresso and whisk until foamy, 1 minute.
3.   Then top it off with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon

5. Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookies
If you are a lover of both cheesecake and pumpkin spice, then this is the perfect cookie for you. The two flavours balance each other out very well, and it is by far the most unexpected-delicious flavoured combination. They can be found at any Wal-Mart and are inexpensive. Have one of these with your pumpkin spice latte and your life will be complete.

6. Jump into a pile of leaves
In the fall time you should get outside, rake the leave and jump into them. It is Obvious you’re tempted to, and you’re never too old to jump in a nice big pile of crisp fallen leaves. Even though everything starts to die in the fall you can still live a little. That is why you should jump in a pile of leaves this fall.

7. WARM FIRES
After you rake your leaves and are finished jumping into them. You can get rid of them by burning them. Get some wood and burn those leaves. I cannot wait for cuddling in my thick sweaters by a bonfire and smell the leaves burning. There are many reasons why people love bonfires

8. Halloween Decorating
Nothing excites me more than decorating for Old Hallows Eve. Getting ready to spook up your home both indoors and out. The traditional focus of All Hallows' Eve revolves around the theme of using humour and ridicule to confront the power of death. The cheapest place I found decorations was Wal-Mart and Dollarama.

9. Darken Your Hair Colour
Women find it necessary to dye their hair darker when fall hits. The reason being, light hair just doesn't look good with pale, winter skin. Making a drastic change like this can be a difficult decision. You can still get that ombre hair, just try toning up. This is why you should go darker for fall

10. MAC'S ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW
The MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show high-end make-up collection is flat out amazing for fall. This collection features deep black shades, super slick liquid eye liner, Chroma graphic pencil, zoom fast black lash, with gold, black and red glitter pigment. It’s a scream! That is why this collection is perfect for fall and Halloween.

11. Candy Corn
Candy corn is a candy most often found in the United States and Canada, popular primarily around Halloween. The three colours of the candy are a broad yellow end, orange centre and white pointed tip. No Halloween would be complete with candy corn either to eat or use as decoration
.
12. Lime Crimes VELVETINES
There is nothing sexier than a pure Red Velvet lip without a cherry undertone, just straight red. The fall is when everything is dark and the skin is at its lightest. Matt lipsticks aren't the best for colder months. They can be drying and tend to really enhance any cracking or chapped lips. Sometimes you just can't help it for a night out. The Lime Crime Velvetines are perfect for those pure red and dark red matte colours on the lips
Velvetiness-RED VELVET
Red Velvet is the perfect matte red. It is like rose petals, rich and velvety. This liquid lipstick is a ground-breaking formula that goes on liquid but dries completely matte. The Red Velvet lipstick is long wearing,
touch-proof and transfer-proof. Everyone who tried the Velvetiness becomes utterly addictive.
Velvetiness-WICKET
Wicket is a matte burgundy-red colour, which is perfect for fall. This liquid lipstick is a ground-breaking formula that goes on liquid but dries completely matte. The Red Velvet lipstick is long wearing, touch-proof and transfer-proof. Everyone who tried the Velvetiness becomes utterly addictive.

13. The Classic Brown Guess Bag
  • CHEATING HEART DOUBLE-ZIP CROSS-BODY
  • DELANEY LOGO SMALL CLASSIC TOTE

14. Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time of family, a time of reflection, A time of giving, and a time of stuffing. Also is a national holiday celebrating primarily in the United Stated and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest. Some families also include breaking the turkey's wishbone as part of their celebration. The wishbone is found attached to the breast meat in the turkey's chest. My sister and I always broke the wish bone and whoever got the longer end of the wish bone after breaking it together would get to make a wish.
  • Turkey
  • gravy
  • mashed potatoes
  • Stuffing
  • Cranberry
  • Boiled carrots
  • pumpkin pie
  • apple pie
  • warm fresh buns
  • Ham
  • maple pumpkin tarts
  • home-made turkey soup the day after

15. Preparing Your Halloween Costume

16. Haunted Corn Mazes

I love haunted corn mazes. The thrill of walking threw a huge maze of corn that is set up all scary. Also people dressed up in crazy costumes jumping out at you from dark corners of the corn path. These are just some of the reasons to love the haunted corn maze.

17. Halloween Movies
The last thing is classic Halloween movies and of course horror movies. Classic Halloween movies are a must for a fall night cuddled in your blankets with a nice cup of hot chocolate. Also horror movies are a must for the creepy dead fall nights when it’s close to Halloween and you want a good scary movie. Here is some good movie to watch on Halloween.

Quick Beauty Tip + Free Sample (usa)

There is no worst feeling then staining your fresh new manicure. Let’s say you started self-tanning without your gloves and a few hours later ended up with bronzed French tips. All you mothers out there picking Cheezies off the carpet and now have bright orange nail stains. Perhaps you are in your office using that Sharpie pen like a boss and your mani is now bye-bye. Does your job require you to use paint, soil, children, chicken ball sauce, make-up, etc? Then this trick is perfect for you. It’s easy, affordable, and only takes a few minutes. Here is how to get the toughest stains off your manicure.

You will need:
  • Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
  • Water
  • Stained Nails
Step One:
Dampen your Mr. Clean Magic Eraser in warm water.

Step Two:
Rub the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the nail stain until it is gone.

That’s it, that’s all. Now your manicure is good-as-new and it took no time at all. If you would like a free sample of the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser click here (Unfortunately it only works if you live in the U.S). If you liked this manicure trick then leave a comment. I hope this blog post helped your manicure become stain free.

Thanks,

Wet N Wild Megalast Matt Lipstick Dupes ❤

I am in love with the Wet N Wild Megalast Lipstick's. These bad boys are a semi-matte, creamy lipstick with a four hour wear and they are stunning. If you haven't tried these drug-store dreams, then you are missing out, or just over paying for another brand that works just as good. The lipsticks are super affordable at $2 a stick, and great dupes for high-end brands. The Magalast lipsticks are, super pigmented, matte and have vitamins A&E to help smooth lips. Although the formula is matte they have a rich texture, are not cakey and do not dry out the lips like other brands. What really surprised me about these lipsticks is that they are scentless which is good for all us girls or boys out there with scent allergies. Most cheap drug-store lipsticks have a unattractive scent to them that make you question "what the heck is this made of?" which made me very excited that they didn't have a scent at all. These are just a few reasons why the WetNWild Megalast lipsticks are so imposing.

Now, I know there is no replacing MAC Lipstick's. MAC is irreplaceable with their creamy, rich and highly pigmented formula. Also their huge colour rage and runway worthy perfection.Another incomparable brand is Lime Crime. They have beautiful intense colours and super cute packaging. We all need to experience these two amazing lipsticks in our lives. These dupes are for my girls out there who can’t spend $20 on perfection when there are comparable alternatives. Here are the WetNWild Megalast dupes.

Megalast lipsticks can be found at any Wal-Mart, drug-store and WetNWild's website. MAC lipsticks can be found at their Website or malls that have a MAC store. Lastly Lime Crime can be bought at their website. Hope this blog post help everyone who needed a good dupe.
Thanks,
